Hi there! My name's Barbara, I'm from Germany, and I'm excited to be able to offer conversation practice as a German native speaker here on Italki! I am really talkative, very patient, flexible and open-minded. I started tutoring at a young age when my English teacher at high school asked me whether I was willing to give private English lessons to some of his students. That was the moment I realised how much I enjoyed teaching which I then maintained for many years. I have a degree as a Foreign Language Correspondent for English and have been using Business English as well as some French and Spanish throughout my career while working for various international companies.

For several years now, I have had numerous video calls with people from many countries of all continents including a lot of English, French and Spanish native speakers, practising my own foreign languages and helping them to improve their German. So if you speak any of the languages mentioned above, I can assure you that I am very well aware of the typical challenges you encounter with regards to German grammar and pronunciation. I prefer an informal and relaxed teaching style. Besides my passion for languages, I enjoy reading, running, travelling, photography, psychology, philosophy, learning about different lifestyles and cultures, and many more.

I can offer German conversation practice on any topic of your choice, to suit your needs and requirements. I would like to let you decide the topic we talk about, but if you don't, I'll be glad to drive the conversation. Together we can discuss the correct grammar and pronunciation, meaning of words and common usage. Furthermore we may correct your writing, be it German emails or letters you need to send, work on your reading or correct your homework. Wherever you are from, I am excited to assist you to get better at speaking German more fluently and confidently. Let's get started! I am looking forward to meeting you online very soon.

Wunderbar! Barbara ist sehr geduldig, hilfsbereit und lustig. Ich habe unsere erste Lektion wirklich genossen und freue mich darauf, mit ihr weiter zu lernen. Wonderful! Barbara is very patient, helpful and funny. I really enjoyed our first lesson and I look forward to continue learning with her.
