I have a degree in Social Science and a I’m a certified teacher. I started by teaching beginner Finnish to immigrants in 2015. Later I got my certificate in teaching and since then I have taught Finnish and English online and offline. I have worked as an English teacher in the Philippines, in Nicaragua and in Mexico teaching children and adults. I enjoy giving private lessons, because I personalize the lessons for the student’s goals and interests.
As a teacher, I believe that I can help the students to grow as learners and to reach their goals. I'm passionate about education and always strive to do the best for my students. I have experience in planning authentic lessons and materials. Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
I would like to support you to meet your individual learning goals; whether you aim to learn grammar, specific vocabular, conversational skills etc. The aim of the first lesson is to evaluate your level and to set up learning goals. We will talk about the different ways of learning (visual, auditory, reading/writing and kinesthetic) and make a plan according to your learning style and preferences. I believe that using different engaging activities keep students interested, motivated and support their learning. During the lessons we can use different materials: books, exercises, articles, listening and conversational, games, music and videos. I use a variety of different materials: books, work sheets, articles, listening exercises, conversation exercises, music and videos. I have also made a lot of authentic material, such as grammar points, exercises and texts, to support learning.

Pinja has been my teacher for one year now, and in a week I am moving to Finland. She is an incredible teacher, always takes time to explain everything and is really nice if I don't understand it and need to go over it again. Besides being patient and kind, the classes are usually really fun, especially the conversation ones, in which we usually laugh a lot and I learn by actually speaking the language. Overall, she is a really awesome person and teacher, could not recommend her more!!

Pinja is a very likeable person and an attentive teacher. She takes your needs seriously and is ready to help you out with whatever language problems you have. She makes you speak even if you think you can't. She corrects you gently but efficiently. I am very happy with my first lesson and am looking forward to next ones. Kiitos paljon!

Pinja is so supportive! Thanks to our lessons and her supportive attitude, I have significantly improved my conversational skills in Finnish. The change is really noticeable - before I couldn’t say a word in Finnish even though I knew some grammar and vocabulary, but now I can already handle different types of conversations! And now it feels great and fun to learn Finnish as never before because I can engage more in longer conversations with native speakers. Thank you, Pinja!
