My name is Kathy and I am from Baltimore, Maryland and I live part-time in Charleston, South Carolina. I am an Italian-American and very proud of my Italian heritage. I love to read, dance, play bocce, and watch Italian films. I also enjoy traveling in the United States and Italia. I was a computer teacher and now I organize tours to Italia. I am also a board member for the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival in Charleston and support Italian-American philanthropic organizations.

Che tipo di insegnante sono

I’m a lifelong student with a Bachelors Degree and a partial Masters degree along with over 150 seminar hours for teaching computers. I have also studied Italian for many years in the university, adult education and with tutors via italki. I believe that being a lifelong student makes me a better teacher because I understand the challenges of learning a language. I’ve been helping Italians with their conversational English for many years and receive positive feedback that my pronunciation and cadence is very easy to understand. I’d love you help you with your conversational English as well.

Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento

My teaching style is very patient and calm. I’ll introduce myself and share my background. I’ll encourage you to share your background, interests and preferred learning style. Together, we will decide suitable conversation topics. I can provide explanations and examples for proper grammar usage but the lessons will be primarily conversation practice. Throughout the lesson, I utilize the chat feature on skype to type words and sentences which provides visual reinforcement. I’ll also provide proofreading and corrections to letters and essays. Most importantly, I’ll have a sense of humor and try to instill a “Yes, you can” confidence within you.
