I am an ESL teacher from South Africa and have been teaching English online since 2013. I am interested in learning about other cultures which makes this the perfect job for me. In my free time I enjoy hiking, yoga and cycling.

As a teacher I try to be adaptable and plan my lessons according to my students needs. I have over 7 years experience so I am familiar with a lot of the difficulties non-native speakers may have.

Which lessons are for you? If you need to gain confidence: general conversation If you want to improve your grammar or vocabulary: focused lessons If you are preparing for an exam: Exam preparation In my lessons I provide material according to the type of lesson booked. For example: If we do a conversation lesson I might use articles or even pictures to encourage conversation. In Exam Preparation lessons I may use sample of the test to increase familiarity and preparedness. However, I am always up for suggestions and am open to using any material which could be helpful.

TEFL - i-to-i - 2013I've obtained a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign language through i-to-i. This certificate has helped me learn to teach grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. It has also taught me how to overcome cultural barriers and make my own lesson plans.

La scelta dell'insegnante

It is incredible how I feel more comfortable to express me and share knowledge with Siya. The class flies. Sometimes I propose one type of lesson/class and other she brings a rich material for we discuss. I can see my progress in each class. It's very important share cultural knowledge with her, because Syia lives in South Africa and me in Brazil, so have a lot of subjects in common and other extremely different and that's makes my class will be exciting.

The teacher asked me about the challenges and desires in learning English. She build a lesson based on my personal needs. I can highly recommend Siya as a good teacher!
