Hello! I'm currently available for help with proofreading and editing assignments, or for students who want irregular lessons. I’m a native speaker of English who was born and raised in the state of New York in the USA. I have three services on Italki: first, I teach professional formal and informal English lessons, second, I help with proofreading and editing, and third, I help with translation from Russian to English. I understand the Russian language and have lived in Russian-speaking countries, which can be helpful for Russian-speaking students.

I have had students from over 50 countries and I constantly help my best students achieve challenging goals, such as becoming Chevening scholars, getting band 8 in IELTS or passing the CPE exam. I help my students improve their English by focusing on speaking skills, effective communication and linguistic awareness. I am currently studying for a diploma in English teaching (DELTA) from Cambridge university and I intend to become an IELTS examiner in the near future.

I've been teaching since 2015 when I started teaching public speaking in London. I have taught online English to groups and individuals from all over the world. I am British and speak the English language with a very neutral accent which makes me easy to understand. I am also very familiar with the IELTS test, having successfully coached many students from around the world to reach their goal.

As a teacher I would say that I am social, objective and caring. I love to make the learning process fun and enjoyable Social: I try to shape it like a social meeting where the student has opportunities to speak, question, observe, discover, grow and express. As a language-learner myself, I know that it is a journey to become fluent and to attain a high level and I most certainly choose to make it a pleasant ride! I am fully qualified to teach English as a second language, and my qualifications include specialisation in teaching students online as well as teaching Business English. I am currently studying for my DELTA qualification. I've been teaching English for 2 years now, and editing and proofreading English copy and text for many more years. I have over 17 years of teaching and training experience and I have grown comfortable coaching a variety of international clients. I have 21 years of management experience gained from running restaurants and nightclubs. At University of Illinois I was the president of student associations and gave speeches at professional events and workshops. After receiving my Master’s Degree I trained employees at University of Illinois and then taught English as a Second Language, American History at the City Colleges of Chicago. Currently I focus on helping professionals and executives expand their vocabulary, utilize creative terminology, and build confidence in their public speaking abilities.

A few years ago I was teaching English to mostly kids while working Spain, but then I decided to go travelling around the world teaching adults working professionals using Skype, so that I could make more use of my engineering degree and combine it with English teaching. I was motivated to start teaching English this way because of the amount of knowledge of different cultures and industries/professions that I was able to gain from teaching these lessons. I also like to study language/linguistics etc so that I can use effective methods to help students reach a higher level of fluency with real, solid methods that work.

Back in 2011, I trained for the Trinity College TESOL Certification in London (UK). As soon as I graduated, I was hired by the language school to begin teaching students. After a few months, I moved to Seville (Spain) and began teaching at a language academy in Seville (Spain). I also became a coordinator for TESOL Spain, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing continued training and support to teachers of English. After a number of years, I moved to Buenos Aires (Argentina) and began working as a human resources consultant for multinational organisations. I continued to teach English independently and on a freelance basis.

I customize my lesson for every individual student taking into account their preferences and learning needs. I also incorporate grammar, idioms, videos, homework, etc if the student needs that to succeed. I can offer both casual or customized lessons.

My goal is always to tailor my class to the individual student's need. I think it's important to identify what your goals are and create a plan for how we can reach them!

As a learner of a language and as a teacher of English, I understand some of the struggles and successes of learning a new language. I think speaking is an important part of learning a new language so I’m excited to speak with you! Seeing my students improve and be able to communicate in a new language is exciting for me and for them. Sharing language knowledge and seeing a student progress forward is one of my main motivations as a teacher.

I have my BA from Bellarmine University and hold an Advanced Certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Learning a new language is one of the most incredible ways to learn about people, explore new ways of thinking and challenge yourself to be better. As a teacher, I believe that it's my responsibility to help my students find their motivation and make their English language learning journey fun, engaging and attainable. I have worked in education for the last six years and have taught English to non-native speakers in Ukraine and online. I have experience teaching advanced speakers and complete beginners. As a teacher, I work to make myself approachable, open and adaptable.
