Gary is a talented boy who adopts effective, comprehensive as well as enjoyable teaching method. During his lesson, not only carefully prepared PPT and fully materials of rich content can be expected, but also a lovely Cantonese music following the 55-min lesson which feigns my interest in learning Cantonese. Personally, I am also a picky student at choosing teachers on italki. If I did not enjoy the lesson or somewhat was not really into the teaching method, the second lesson will never be booked. However, Gary is pretty a nice teacher! I do recommend him to everyone who has already a strong determination in learning Cantonese or just flashes this idea into your mind, Gary くん will definitely be the one for you!

I really enjoy that he works with me on tones and pronunciation. I feel comfortable making mistakes. It's also appreciate that he'll go over the various accents and differences. it's so fun getting to learn more than just the strict lesson. <3

If you have any interest, in addition to the language, to the actual, lived culture of Hong Kong, Gary is your person. I've always been an HK-phile but it can be hard to access the culture as an "outsider." Gary is one of those rare evangelists for both the language and culture -- so take full advantage of his enthusiasm and he'll open the curtains for you. As for language learning, he's still foremost a teacher, and very encouraging at that, so he'll comfort you with super prepared structure and methodology should you need it. He'll think very contextually based on your level what resources to give and practice through.

Such a great first lesson with Gary! He was quick to assess my speaking level and what I want out of future lessons. I felt comfortable in our conversation and I already picked up new words related to my interests. I look forward to our next one :-)
