I was born in New York, but I grew up in the State of Oregon. I lived in Germany for 2 years while I was in the Army, then I went back to Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon with a Degree in English. I’ve also lived in Maryland, Alaska, Alabama and Florida, where I live now with my family in Orlando near Disney. Outside of the U.S., I’ve lived in Germany and Mexico, and have traveled to about 40 different countries. I started learning Spanish when I was 25, and now I speak Spanish very well (we speak it every day at home). I started learning Mandarin Chinese about 5 years ago, and now I speak it enough to have a decent conversation. I love languages, and plan to learn more.

I speak Spanish very well (we speak it every day at home). I speak enough Mandarin Chinese to have a solid conversation. I chat with iTalki Chinese teachers several times a week to practice. As a fellow language learner and a trilingual, I have probably run into many of the same barriers and pitfalls you will encounter while learning your next language, so I can empathize with the many of the struggles you face.

Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement

I focus on speaking, but I can also teach you to read and write. I will encourage you to speak alot in a fun and relaxed environment, speaking about any topic you are comfortable with. To get to any level of fluency in a spoken language, you need to lose the fear of making mistakes and make them regularly, while receiving the feedback necessary to fix those mistakes over time. That's how young children have learned their own language for thousands of years, because it's natural, and it works. Why wouldn't you do the same? Speaking another language is scary and frustrating at first, but once you get going it can be alot of fun.

I really enjoyed the lesson. Chip is a great teacher with tons of charisma. Something that is very important to me is to have fun while I'm learning, and with Chip, I'm pretty sure you'll have it.
