I believe it's important to focus not only on those goals but everyday use of the English language, to make the student more comfortable in a situation where they will be interacting with other English speakers, likely many of whom speak nothing else. I always encourage my students to work hard but to focus on how English can help meet their future needs for communication and understanding.

I am an English tutor with TEFL certification, 10 years classroom experience and over 700 lessons taught online.
