It is very helpful to understand German grammar well, but it is the practical application of the rules that really leads to swift and lasting progress. My lessons are therefore designed around getting you to speak, read and write asap. I will help you to understand the HOWs and WHYs of German grammar in ways that are practical and will make you a more confident user of the language. We will also make sure you are using the language well, not just correctly. Beauty and formal quality matter a lot. If done in this way, learning German needn't be as difficult as you may imagine or have experienced in the past. It can – and should – be a luxury that you are motivated to indulge in frequently.

As a teacher I am a huge disciple of learning while speaking and love to give examples of context and situation. A structural approach to learning a new language is key. Grammar and vocabularies are mandatory while often more easily learned by heart through stories and repeated use. It is most important to have a good time and to have fun while learning, as well as keeping my teaching goal oriented towards your needs. I will have to get to know your goals so that we can figure out an individual learning plan for you while I guide you through the different levels of competence.

Seit Jahren bin ich als Lehrkraft im Bereich Kunst aktiv und leite eine Private Kunstakademie. My experience in teaching comes through my work in the field of art. I'm running a private Art Academy. Since finishing my university degree in the art of painting I'm giving classes in that field. I like to set my students thinking and to see how a learning process progresses. I have already worked with people of all ages and noticed that not everyone learns the same way. Since I myself wasn't very satisfied with how my teachers, back at my school days, were teaching, my aim is doing it better. In Germany, I studied Art, Theater and Biology to become a teacher for high school students in these subjects. I completed my second state exam and continued working at different schools with my wish to move abroad and make more experiences in living and teaching far away from my home. Right before I moved, I was working as a teacher for remedial education and particular in teaching German to children with migration background. I was able to find suitable teaching methods for the different types of learning and individual needs to achieve the learning goals with the students together. I am excited to continue teaching in this way and to get to know you.

Teaching since 2016 I specialise in technical and general online language classes mainly for care personnel (nurses). I am highly experienced in using web based document annotation apps, communication and meeting platforms, virtual classrooms and Learning management systems. I hold a TELC examiner license for Deutsch B1-B2 +Pflege which also allows me insight and knowledge of test formats and the CEFR guidelines and level requirements. I can offer both general and intensive German classes from Beginners to advanced levels (up to C1/C2) including all 4 competency levels (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading) as well as grammar reviews, exam preparation and proofreading.

My classes are quite informal and relaxed. So don't worry about making mistakes, that is absolutely normal and part of the journey to learn a new language. I will do my best to make you feel comfortable with speaking German, since trying to speak early on is a great way to improve your German fast.

In September 2020 I started working as a science teacher at an international school, teaching children from the age of 8 to 12. After completing a 120 hour TEFL course, I also started working as a private English tutor for 5 to 12-year-old children. Since I started working as a teacher I realized how much I enjoy teaching and seeing my students make progress. So I decided to start teaching the language that I feel most comfortable with - German.

First and foremost I am a learner who enjoys learning languages as a hobby. So I understand the frustrations and challenges faced by students when they try to mesh the theoretical aspects of acquisition with the realities of speaking practice. I have written a language course for those tackling German and my approach with beginners is to introduce new language in a very structured way and to prioritise patterns above vocabulary, at least at the start. For more advanced students I am happy to select materials based on their interests. I always try to put people at ease and believe that learning should be an enjoyable as well as enriching experience.

For the past few years, I've been volunteering with young people in schools to improve their confidence with English. During my time in Germany, I worked for the Red Cross as a learning mentor for a young refugee where I provided English conversation practice and helped him with his schoolwork. My current long-term goal is to become a schoolteacher. As a language learner myself, I understand the difficulties and challenges with learning a language and will be able to help you regardless of how old you are.
