My name is Sylvie. And I've been learning quite a few languages on Italki. You can just youtube my nickname Sylin and you'll see:-) I'm a french native speaker (with a Parisian accent) and I'm looking forward to teaching you this beautiful language. My lessons will be based mostly on conversations, and I will surely customize them to your needs. I have also experience in tutoring French high school pupils preparing for the french bac exam. I've been teaching on Italki for almost a year now and I've helped more than a hundred students. I speak french and english fluently. I have been teaching french in korea for several months now. And on Italki for four months now. I always try to adjust to my students needs. J'ai étudié à l'Université Nanterre Paris X l'histoire, la littérature et la philosophie, et je suis diplômée d'un Master de Médiation culturelle. J'ai récemment terminé une formation d'enseignement de FLE - Français Langue Etrangère, avec l'Alliance Française de Vichy. Travaillant actuellement à l'Alliance française, je suis tout le temps en contact avec des étudiants apprenant le français. Pour moi, la meilleure façon d'apprendre une langue est de parler avec les locaux. C'est comme ça que j'ai appris l'espagnol ! Le premier cours est centré sur l’évaluation de vos acquis et compétences, des notions de la langue que vous avez, et surtout de vos besoins et vos attentes.

I decided to start the Italki adventure for 2 reasons : I love my French language, I think it is beautiful and secondly because I actually understand the difficulties you are facing by learning a foreign language.. I learnt German alone with a CD method, then I decided to take lessons with a teacher, which was the best idea! So if you are tired of learning French alone with your CD's, come and join me ! I taught French in England, Germany and Spain where I was teaching to one on one for about 10 years with teenagers, adults and academic students of different levels, to which I adapted my lessons to achieve their goals. For me, teaching has been a wonderful experience!

I have a great love for languages in general and have always been fascinated with how they work. I enjoy mapping one language onto another. I try to evoke this same interest in my students, and help them see both the similarities and the differences between their native language and the language they are learning.

I got a certification in Education (C.A.P) specialised in teaching languages, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2007. I also got a certification in Teaching Spanish as a foreign language at Cálamo & Cran, Barcelona. My experience in teaching in France, Spain and Ireland has allowed me to improve my language skills, as well as to increase my ability to adapt to new cultures and environments. I have been teaching at High Schools in France, as a language instructor for companies in Barcelona and Paris, and in private lessons during my years in these countries. I love helping and motivating students improve their language skills, which makes them return to me for more lessons.

I define my teaching style as conversational and relaxed and strive for making the learning experience as enjoyable and natural as possible for the student. I believe in learning believe in learning by doing and constructive pedagogical methods using real life situations and experience. Making the lesson relevant for the student is vital to me, and I would hence be delighted to help you practice on light/daily life or theme-based discussions.
